WEBSITE STUDY 3 - CANEY FORK FISH CAMPwww.caneyforkfishcamp.com
Caney Fork Fish Camp is a unique restaurant located near the world-famous Opryland Hotel in Nashville. The restaurant takes its name from the 144 mile locally known Caney Fork River which winds through much of Middle Tennessee. The river is a favorite destination for trout fishing, canoing, wade-anglers, bank-fishers and is a off the beaten path retreat for family fun. Caney Fork Fish Camp brings a little bit of the outdoor feel and the down-home taste of food to the city. Their menu consists of all kinds of backwoods offerings such as catfish, seafood pot pie, bar-be-que pork, fried picles and key lime pie!
Caney Fork serves up its incredibly tastey southern food surrounded by the atmosphere of the outdoors. In addition to their 3100 gallon indoor stocked pond and waterfall, a 1939 Dodge truck cab and other memorabilia inspire recollection of the "good old days" for many guests. The decor is so striking Logic House Media aimed to capture some it in an emmersive, full-screen Flash website.
By
designing the entire site in Flash, animation can be used throughout.
As the site loads, a fish swims across the screen to emit bubbles
which opens up the home page overview text. Each transition between
pages uses different fish smimming at different angles to preceed
the upcoming page.
Tiny bubbles randomly float above the text and images on each page to give the effect of being underwater. A flash image gallery, downloadable PDF menu and a "note pad" type contact form add more variety to the site's appeal.
The restaurant management wanted to add a guestbook where guests could leave messages about their dining experience. Logic House Media developed a simple, inexpensive guestbook which allows management to delete entries that contain extremely negative comments. The guestbook also filters out commonly used offensive words and automatically send an email notification to the site administrator each time a new post is submitted.
