COLDFUSION SLIDESHOW PRO CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

SlideShowPro (http://www.slideshowpro.net is a very popular third-party Flash component developed by Dominey Design Inc. SlideShowPro provides a sleek interface for website image galleries and slideshows. While Logic House Media designs similar slideshow applications (like the simplified ones used on this site), the popularity and excellent integration of SlideShowPro with Flash in component form makes it easy to plug into websites on the fly.

The Problem

SlideShowPro works wonderfully for web developers and designers who own Flash, can resize images, understand simple XML and know how to FTP files to a website's hosting server. Many website owners want to update their own images and galleries on their site. SlideShowPro developed a great product (SlideShowPro Director) to help website owners and developers manage their SlideShowPro galleries through a web-based interface. We actually buy copies to install on some of our clients' sites.

Although SlideShowPro Director has some great features, we've noticed a few drawbacks:
- Written for PHP only.
- Can't be seamlessly integrated into an existing Content Management System (CMS)
- Overly complex for some website owners

Our Solution

Logic House Media has recently developed a simple ColdFusion application to integrate with SlideShowPro. The application is small and can easily be integrated into existing ColdFusion content management systems and admin areas as well as public front-ends. The application stores the album and image information in a database and automatically creates a new XML file each time the gallery is updated.

- Stores content in any database ColdFusion interfaces with
- Can be integrated into existing ColdFusion pages
- Open Source for complete customization
- Very small blocks of code
- Integrates easily with custom image resizing tags
